Positive Neutral Finder(KP)
Just shift up from first gear at a stop to find
neutral easily, every time. A Kawasaki exclusive.
One rocker arm operates two valves. Hydraulic
lash adjusters(KP) are located on the rocker
to automatically adjust valve clearance.
Top portion of cylinders liquid cooled, bottom air
cooled for an attractively tapered shape.
A semi-dry sump(KP) keeps excess oil away from
the crank to prevent power-robbing stirring loss.
Oil is stored in the transmission, which eliminates
the need for an oil tank. Triple oil pumps (2
scavenge and 1 feed pump) help reduce stirring
loss and provide superb oil circulation.
Large one-piece case halves allow the engine
to be used as a stressed frame member for
increased chassis rigidity. The oil and water
pumps are built into the cases to reduce the
number of parts.
•4-Valve Cylinder Head(KP)
Large 35 degree valve angle(KP) and pushrod
valve actuation help minimize engine height.
Despite its 25% larger displacement, overall
engine height is only 2mm higher than the
Vulcan 1600 Classic’s powerplant. Since cruiser
engines aren’t designed to produce high revs,
pushrod valve actuation is more than adequate
to achieve the desired power characteristics.
